Happy 18th Anniversary...Sort Of

Yesterday, we celebrated 18 years of marriage. It was a typical parenting day for us, however. As I walked out the door to take Mason to the urgent care, Marty left to pick up girls and take them to cheer practice and pick up groceries. Mason was diagnosed with the flu so we were busy sanitizing and washing everything!  I’m sure we’ll make it up...one of these days.
Despite our crazy life, I wouldn’t choose anyone else to spend it with. Forever and always.

Mason and medicine don’t mix. It is a fight to get him to swallow or chew anything. Sam the Elf decided to give him some piece of mind.

Raelee’s Winter Dance 2019

I can’t believe this time next year we’ll have two attending a high school dance. But for now, it’s just Raelee. She couldn’t have picked a more suitable dress for this dance. One that flatters her body and fits the occasion and time of year. So grown up...so beautiful on the inside and out. The best part was her and the girls had an amazing time!

Dress Shopping and Letter to Santa

On Saturday, December 7th, Mommy took Raelee, Jordyn and Abby shopping for winter dance dresses and 8th grade dance dresses. Mason also decided this was a perfect time to write his official letter to Santa while he waited on the girls to try dresses on. This was such a fun day. While the girls ordered their Starbucks and shopped around Oxmoor, Mason and I hit shoe departments which is his heaven on earth. Dress shopping was a success for the girls. Raelee found a tight-fitting black dress, with flare long sleeves. Jordyn coincidentally found her 8th grade dance dress which is red and black floral, with a flare skirt, open back with a bow and spaghetti straps.  They looked so grown up and beautiful.

Happy Thanksgiving 2019!

This Thanksgiving was a bit unusual compared to years past. Grammy and Poppy just returned from a 10 day cruise and adventure to Australia and New Zealand, so Thanksgiving dinner was up to the “kids” this time. Mommy was in charge of the turkey which was a bit stressful. Despite my angst, it turned out really well!  Following our dinner and time at Grammy and Poppy’s, we spent the vending and night at Mamaw and Papaw’s for some shopping (both in store and online). A wonderful holiday for sure.

Raelee’s XC Banquet 2019

We attempted to up our game at the banquet this year. Complete with catering from Hometown, a few decorations and a slide show, this one was a success. We are over the moon proud of Raelee and her accomplishments. With an All Academic Award from KHSSA for a 4.0 GPA and winner of Most Improved Female and Female Runner of the Year 2019. Her determination and discipline amazes us. This is just the beginning sweet girl!  Go for it!

Another Win for the Generals!

These girls are having an amazing season!  A bid to nationals and some first place trophies.
So wonderful to see their hard work pay off!

First place win at Regionals and last middle school regional competition for these 8th graders. 💜

Mason’s East Running Club XC Banquet

Over 200 people piled into Bullitt East’s practice gym on 11/10, to celebrate this amazing group’s successes this season. This was Mason’s first attempt at XC. With a PR of 8:04, we were pretty impressed. While we’re not convinced he’s developed a love for running, he has most definitely developed an appreciation for the sport. We’re so proud of him for trying something new and for daddy supporting him as a father and a coach, this season.  Way to go buddy!

State XC Meet 2019

XC State at the Kentucky Horse Park was a success for Raelee. She finished 50th overall and her team finished 13th. This course is the most challenging so her grit and determination came through. It was an amazing season. While she was tired and ready for a break, she was sad to see it end...so we’re we. Until next year!

Halloween 2019

Halloween has changed quite a bit around here. The girls are now officially done trick or treating and Mason is already beginning to show less interest. Sunday, 10/27, Annie, Ryan, Malcolm, Claire, Mamaw and Papaw all joined us for pizza and trick or treating. Billy L didn’t disappoint by driving us from house to house in Cedar Falls on his trailer. Fun had by all!

Because the weather on the 31st was terrible, Mason opted to stay home while Jordyn trick or treated in Autumn Glen with friends.

XC Regionals and Jordyn’s Competition

On October 26th, Raelee ran her 2nd Cross Country Regionals Meet at Seneca Park, but first one as a BEHS student. She did very well, placing 7th overall. She didn’t come in first for her team, but she sure came close. Mommy did her best to balance attending her meet while Mamaw made sure Jordyn had support at her first competition of the season at BCHS.  I barely missed seeing her team but was able to be there as they took first place at the awards ceremony. It was a big day for these girls!
